Weapons, battle dioramas, uniforms…Learn about Russia's participation in World War II and the army’s impact on the war by embarking on a guided tour of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
Itinerary
Meet your guide at the Triumphal Arch on Kutuzovsky Prospekt and take a short walk to the Victory Park, where you will decipher the symbolism of its monuments in relation to the Second World War.
The park is situated on Poklonnaya Hill, one of the highest points of Moscow. The slope is home to the Church of Saint George, the World War II memorial “Great Patriotic War”. In the centre of the green-space is the Victory Park Obelisk. The monolith stands 141.8 meters high and represents the 1.418 days Russia took part in World War II.
The Museum of the Great Patriotic War is just in front of the obelisk. Walk straight in accompanied by your knowledgeable guide and admire several educational boards and dioramas of the most important battles. The museum also accommodates original weaponry used by the Soviets during WWII and other striking elements dating from between 1941 and 1945.
Leave the museum and the tour will come to an end at Victory Park.
